Järfälla Kvinnojour is a non-partisan and non-religious nonprofit organization that has been active since 1982. The organization's overarching goal is to, in the spirit of feminism, advocate for the right of women and children to live free from violence and oppression and to work towards a gender-equal society.
Järfälla Kvinnojour has a dual mission: to provide protection and support for women and children affected by violence and to raise awareness and spread knowledge about men's violence against women and violence in close relationships. The first mission is carried out by operating a shelter for women and children subjected to violence, as well as an open support service for women affected by violence. The second mission involves advocacy and knowledge dissemination about men's violence against women, violence in close relationships, and the work of the women’s shelter.
